Muslims, beauty contests and a suspicious pattern

After Rima Fakih, an Arab-American college student, won the Miss USA beauty pageant, the conservative commentator Daniel Pipes wrote that it is highly suspicious that so many young women of Muslim heritage have been winning beauty contests lately.

Maybe so.  Maybe Western secularists want to tempt young Muslim women into entering swimsuit competitions, and violate their religion’s teaching about modesty in dress.  That is more plausible than thinking there is widespread prejudice and discrimination against white Protestants.
