Why so few viral e-mails from liberals?

I frequently receive e-mails of stuff like this.

I almost never receive e-mails of stuff like this.

Why is that?

It’s about resonance, I think. The right-wing message is much more closed and focused than the left-wing one. It makes it much more difficult to ‘break in’ to that cycle of thinking – the progressive approach is inherently much more open, so it doesn’t lend itself to virals quite as well – virals are built on resonance, and getting over that hump of apathy to send something on.

I was writing about a related phenomenon yesterday – http://wp.me/p1y1dk-4F but I think the question of virals is pretty interesting, actually, I might come back to that!

Probably because something going viral depends on it being liked by more than one person and being passed along; quite frankly, not many liberal ideologies are worthy of the forward button, just the delete button.
