Added 1/7/2015. Now that I think about it, its seems obvious that it is in the interest of China to maintain good relations with Russia as an oil supplier and with the United States as an export market, and not to openly side with one against the other. The Chinese government has many internal issues to deal with that, I imagine, take priority over the quest for geopolitical advantage.
