It is not as if there is a lack of useful work for government workers to do. Just to take two examples, there is a teacher shortage and there is a great need to rebuild the nation’s crumbling infrastructure.
I grant that many government agencies are top-heavy with overpaid executives and consultants. But I doubt that these are the jobs that are being eliminated.
