Cutting U.S. losses in the Mideast

If President Donald Trump intends to pull back U.S. military intervention in the Middle East, this would be the least bad thing he could do.  The only point of continuing the present policies that I can see is to not be the one that has to admit failure.

The best way out of the Mideast is to declare victory and go home.

From a practical POV, I’d say we won in the Mideast. If you define winning as destroying Al Qaeda, deposing Saddam and installing a cooperative government and later destroying ISIS, we’ve won. If you want to define victory as no further major acts of Islamic terrorism in the US, we’ve won.

If you want to include the spread of democracy in Syria or Libya or destroying the Taliban, we’ve failed miserably. Define your victory conditions properly and you can go home with “Peace with Honor”.

    Yes, sadly.
