In this next video, fast-forward to 6.40 minutes for more detailed information about Milan’s vertical forests.
Next, a TEDx talk by Stefano Boeri, designer of the vertical forest.
Afterthought. My first thought was that these buildings are very nice. My second thought, a short time after I posted the videos, is that green high-rise buildings are a luxury good for rich people, requiring expensive maintenance, and unlikely to be of any general significance. They are pretty to look at, though.

my first thought was this is fiction, some architect’s fantasy project. my second reaction was horror and grief for the loss of living close to the earth and recognisable seasons and relatively simple technologies on which diverse cultures have flourished & remained connected to the wellsprings of creation. but then i won’t be around much longer … already feel like a stranger in a strange land.
Glad though that you are bighearted enough to embrace such a future, Phil!

Yes, you’re right.
Yes, it is fantasy—a fantasy I found beguiling before I stopped to think, but a fantasy available only to those with large amounts of money, not all that different from the fantasy of everybody going to live in space colonies.
