    And a hundred years ago,a character (General Smedley Butler) I’m writing a historical novel about came from a Republican family of Quakers who had been active on the underground railroad, and the Democrats were still generally despised as the party of the Slave South. People REALLY shouldn’t get too attached to the labels, or think they know what they mean.
